FINAL RESULTS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Joey Zambri earned a top-40 finish as the Cal Poly men's golf team finished in a tie for 13th place with Seattle in the 20-team El Macero Classic, which concluded a three-day 54-hole run Sunday at the El Macero Golf Club.
Zambri carded a final-round 72 for a two-over-par 218 total and 36th place.
Austin Liu added a 76 for a 219 total and 42nd place while Ben Quick finished in a tie for 47th place with a 73 for 220.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Jackson Parrish with a 75 for a 222 total and 55th place and Baron Szeto with a 75 for a 225 total and 70th place.
Andi Xu of San Diego and Omar Morales of UCLA shared first place with 13-under-par 203 totals, Morales claiming the top prize in a playoff. Matthew Sutherland of Fresno State placed third, four shots behind the co-medalists.
San Diego edged North Texas by three strokes, 850-853, for the team title with Cal State Fullerton another shot back in third place. Cal Poly compiled a four-person 54-hole 14-over-par 878 aggregate.
Cal Poly will compete in the Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship April 30-May 2 at the La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, Calif.
