
Reedy, DeFazio Secure Big West Weekly Honors

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After a securing a pair of impressive Big West home victories, the Cal Poly women's soccer team received plenty of praise from the conference office on Monday.
Senior forward Kate Reedy was crowned Big West Offensive Player of the Week, while forward Jaycee DeFazio earned Big West Freshman of the Week honors. It marked the third time this season the Mustangs have garnered two Big West weekly awards.
For Reedy and DeFazio, it's the first Big West weekly honor of their careers.
Reedy had quite the week on the pitch, netting the game-winner in Thursday's 2-0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield and recording two assists in Sunday's 4-0 thumping of CSUN. The Pleasanton, Calif. native has four goals and three assists on the season, tied for the second most points on the team. She is also tied for the Big West lead in game winners, burying two this fall.
In her fourth career appearance for the Mustangs, DeFazio recorded her first collegiate and assist in Sunday's win over the Matadors. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native assisted on Dani Wozniak's 55th-minute goal and blasted one off the left post in the 59th minute to give Cal Poly a 4-0 advantage.
Reedy was also named the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Unbeaten in five straight and winners of three consecutive matches, Cal Poly (7-5-3, 5-1-1 Big West) travels to UC Davis this Thursday and Hawai'i this Sunday.
