Cal Poly Men Win Seven Events at CSUB Sprint Classic

RESULTS
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Sophomore Drew Huston and freshman Theoden Yavuzer-Judd each captured two individual victories to highlight action for the Cal Poly swimming and diving program during Friday's CSUB Sprint Classic at John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center.
The Mustang men squared off with host CSU Bakersfield during the meet, while the women faced the Roadrunners and UC Davis. The men captured first while the women grabbed third.
The Cal Poly men won a total of seven events on the day led by impressive performances by Huston and Yavuzer-Judd. Huston took first in the 50-yard backstroke (23.74 seconds) and the 100 back (50.93), while Yavuzer-Judd placed first in the 50 breaststroke (26.58) and 100 breaststroke (57.84).
Freshman Iain McCarthy secured the top spot in the men's 50 freestyle (21.73) and sophomore Alex Seybold snagged first in the 200 individual medley (1:54.86). The Mustangs won the men's 800 free relay as well with a time of 6:52.0. Sophomores Lucas Meneghetti and Nick Elliott, and seniors Sean Keegan and Ryan Trichler swam legs on the relay.
Seybold and Elliott also earned runner-up finishes in the 50 breast and the 200 IM respectively. Sophomores Jonathan Butler (50 back) and Cameron Schwantes (1000 free), and freshman Scott Iannaccone (100 back) all grabbed second-place finishes.
On the women's side, freshman Olivia Sundgren captured second in the 1000 free (10:24.83) and senior Briana Medvecki took runner-up in the 1-meter dive (251.80 points). In the 50 back, sophomore Kiersten Weiler and senior Katie Cross placed third and fifth respectively. Junior Summer Cheng earned fourth in the 50 butterfly, and sophomores Melia Costa (50 breast) and Myl Lauc (1-meter dive) each earned fifth-place finishes in their events.
