Emily Lieber Named Big West Offensive Player & Freshman of the Week

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Freshman forward Emily Lieber received a pair of honors from the Big West on Monday afternoon after leading the Cal Poly women's soccer team to back-to-back 1-0 road victories over Minnesota and Sacramento State.
Lieber was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week and Big West Freshman of the Week. This is Lieber's first time collecting either award, and she is just the second Big West women's soccer player ever to receive both awards in the same week.
This past Thursday, Lieber assisted on Nikki Trucco's game-winning goal in the 78th minute against the Gophers, allowing Cal Poly to grab its first victory over a Big Ten opponent since 2008.
On Sunday, Lieber centered a pass to Kylie Rojas on her game-winning goal in the 80th minute against the Hornets. The win was Cal Poly's first at Sacramento State since 2012.
Lieber's two assists helped Cal Poly return home with two victories after over 4,000 miles of travel across five days.
Lieber has assisted on every Mustang goal this season, and her three assists are tied for the most in the Big West.
On top of the accolades from the Big West, Lieber was also crowned the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
