UCSB Completes Sweep Against Cal Poly with 7-3 Victory on Sunday

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Nick Vogt's two-run double down the left-field line snapped a 3-3 tie and sparked a four-run ninth-inning rally as UC Santa Barbara completed a sweep of its three-game Big West Conference baseball series at Cal Poly with a 7-3 victory Sunday afternoon inside Baggett Stadium.
In reaching the 30-win milestone with four weeks left in the regular season, UC Santa Barbara improved to 30-10 for the season and 19-2 in Big West games, at least six games ahead of its nearest competitor. Cal Poly, which has lost five straight contests, is 6.5 games behind the Gauchos with an 11-7 mark and 24-19 for the season.
Hawai'i defeated Cal State Fullerton 17-3 on Sunday and moved into second place in the Big West at 13-8, six games behind UC Santa Barbara. Cal Poly is third while Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine share fourth place at 10-8, 7.5 games behind the Gauchos.
Cal Poly led 1-0 and 2-1 in the early innings before UC Santa Barbara scored twice in the seventh inning on back-to-back triples by Bryce Willits and Blake Klassen and a sacrifice fly by Christian Kirtley.
