Amos Collects First Career Big West Player of the Week Honor

SAN LUIS OBISPO – With a 7-for-16 performance and two home runs during the Cal Poly softball program's five-game stretch at the Cal State Fullerton-hosted Judi Garman Classic (March 3-5), senior shortstop Maddie Amos was named Big West Conference Field Player of the Week on Monday.
After opening Garman Classic action with a hit versus No. 5 UCLA (March 3), Amos returned in Thursday's second game with a three-run homer during a 7-3 loss to Loyola Marymount.
Amos added two more hits versus No. 23 Arizona State (March 4) before recording another pair of hits and two runs in Cal Poly's 8-0 victory against Penn (March 5). She capped Garman Classic action with her second homer of the season on Saturday to complete Cal Poly's 5-2 win versus Fresno State.
Batting .438 during the Garman Classic, Amos enters Cal Poly's Wednesday, March 9 home doubleheader against Penn ranked second in the lineup with a .365 (19-for-52) mark. A starter in all 15 games this year, she also leads Cal Poly in RBI (11), extra-base hits (five), total bases (28) and doubles (three).
