CORVALLIS, Oregon -- Top-ranked Evan Wick won by major decision to maintain his perfect record for the season, but Oregon State won seven of the 10 bouts, all by decision, en route to a 21-10 victory over Cal Poly in a Pac-12 dual wrestling meet Friday night inside Gill Coliseum.
Wick improved to 13-0 on the year with a methodical 17-4 major decision over Mason Reiniche at 165 pounds, scoring seven takedowns, a pair of penalty points for stalling and riding time.
The win by Wicks closed the gap to 12-7 and, two bouts later, it was still a five-point differential, 15-10, with two matches remaining. Oregon State won both to wrap up its 11th straight dual meet triumph over the Mustangs.
Cal Poly's other winners were No. 17 Legend Lamer at 149 pounds and No. 5 Bernie Truax at 184 pounds.
Lamer earned a 4-2 overtime decision against No. 28 Cory Crooks, scoring a takedown 40 seconds into the two-minute sudden victory extra period, to lift his record on the year to 10-3. Lamer, a graduate of Crescent Valley High School, about five miles outside of Corvallis, notched an escape with 45 seconds left in the third period to tie the match and force overtime.
Truax is now 10-1 on the season following his 5-2 triumph over No. 12 Trey Munoz. Truax, who now has six wins against ranked wrestlers this year, scored two takedowns in the first period and added an escape in the second period for a 5-1 lead, giving up only an escape the rest of the way.
Near the end of the second period, Truax nearly gave up a takedown and two-point near-fall, but the points were waived off after a video review.
Three other Mustangs lost decisions by just two points.
Lawrence Saenz slipped to 9-4 for the season following his 5-3 loss to No. 14 Grant Willits at 141 while Nathan Tausch, a late substitute for No. 8 Adam Kemp at 174, suffered a 3-1 overtime loss to No. 27 Mateo Olmos. Trent Tracy is now 10-8 after he dropped a 5-3 decision to Ryan Reyes at 197.
Oregon State improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in Pac-12 duals while Cal Poly fell to 2-2 and 1-2.
