Cal Poly Baseball Alumni Game Set for Saturday at Baggett Stadium

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The 2019 Cal Poly baseball alumni game was canceled due to rain. The 2021 contest was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All systems are go, however, for the 2022 Alumni Game, scheduled for Saturday at 1 o'clock inside Baggett Stadium.
Ex-Mustangs who have said they will play include pitchers Casey Bloomquist, Austin Dondanville and Thomas Triantos along with catchers Nick Meyer, Myles Emmerson, Brett Barbier, Chris Hoo, Connor Loucks and Tyler LaSalle, infielders Peter Van Gansen, Dylan Doherty, Brett Binning, Michael Sanderson and Connor O'Hare and outfielders Josh George and Jordan Ellis,
Another 25 or so Mustang baseball alumni have indicated that they will be at the game.
Corner infielder Tate Samuelson collected four hits and drove in four runs to lift the 2020 Cal Poly baseball team to a 12-2 victory over the Alumni, the Mustangs' sixth straight win over the Old Grads.
Samuelson, who started the game at third base and finished at first base, singled in the first inning, doubled home a run in the second, singled again in the sixth and belted a three-run triple to the gap in right-center field in the seventh.
Freshman shortstop Nick Marinconz doubled twice and drove in one run while both Connor Gurnik and Elijah Greene contributed a pair of singles, Gurnik knocking home two runs.
Taison Corio drove in two runs with a single and sacrifice fly as Cal Poly outhit the Alumni 14-5.
Samuelson, Marinconz and Corio are among the players on the 2022 Mustangs roster which features seven returning position starters and all but three of last year's pitchers.
The Mustangs open the 2022 regular season with the first of three games against Washington on Friday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m.
