2020 -- Played in 11 games with seven starts in the middle of the Mustang infield in second playing season at Cal Poly ... hit .143 with three hits, all singles ... two of them were in final game of four-game series versus BYU ... one RBI on a bunt single against Michigan in MLB4 Tournament ... drew six walks and finished with .357 on-base percentage ... one stolen base in series opener versus BYU ... played summer ball for Andersen's Pea Soup in Santa Maria, Calif.
2019 -- A .263 hitter in 55 games (53 starts) in the middle of the Mustang infield as a redshirt freshman ... 34 starts at shortstop and 19 more at second base ... hit leadoff in 28 games ... seven doubles, one triple and a home run (solo shot versus Fresno State on April 9) with 16 RBIs ... stole four bases ... 13 multiple-hit games, including four-hit contest against Santa Clara on April 2, and a pair of multiple-RBI games ... .313 average with runners on base and knocked in nine runs in 13 opportunities with a runner on third base and less than two outs ... hit .289 in non-conference games and .310 in home games ... earned team's Dave Oliver Hustle Award and Robin Baggett Scholar-Athlete Award ... did not play summer ball, rehabilitating a knee injury.

High School -- A middle infielder for three varsity seasons under head coach Mike Stock at Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois ... hit .500 in 11 games as a senior with 11 RBI ... Redhawks were 17-10 in 2017, finishing second in the DuPage Valley Conference ... hit .330 in 24 games as a junior with five doubles, one triple, nine RBI and 20 steals, earning second-team All-DuPage Valley Conference honors ... as a sophomore helped Redhawks to regional championship ... twice was selected to play in the Chicagoland Classic and twice earned Conference All-Academic honors ... was team captain as a junior and senior and played on the 2015 Chicago White Sox Area Code Underclass Team as well as the 2016 Chicago Scouts Association Jupiter Fall Team ... recruited by Columbia, Kentucky, Illinois-Chicago, Northwestern, Army, Illinois State, Boston College and Duke, Gurnik elected to go west to Cal Poly because "the more time I spent researching online, the more I knew this was the school that I would go to.
