SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- A fall by Legend Lamer and technical falls from Evan Wick and Bernie Truax helped Cal Poly record a pair of historic dual meet victories over Air Force and CSU Bakersfield on Sunday inside Mott Athletics Center.
Lamer's fall and the first of two technical falls by Wick lifted Coach Jon Sioredas' Mustangs to a 27-18 victory over Air Force while the technicals by Wick and Truax led to a 21-18 Cal Poly win over CSU Bakersfield.
The win over Air Force was the first ever by the Mustangs in eight meetings while the triumph over CSU Bakersfield was Cal Poly's second in the last eight years. In addition, at 4-2, Cal Poly is assured of a winning dual meet record for the first time since the 2010-11 season.
"We are pleased with our efforts today," said Sioredas. "We certainly need to clean some things up technically and strategically before Pac-12s, but overall a great effort today."
