SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Jackson Stava, director of athletics at Seattle Pacific the last six years, has joined Cal Poly Athletics as a Senior Associate Athletic Director.
Stava, who replaces former Deputy Athletic Director Nick Pettit, will work with the other three senior associate athletic directors -- Keri Mendoza (compliance), Chris Baker (external relations) and Ashley Offermann (development) -- on the executive team in the Mustang athletics department.
Stava, who grew up in San Luis Obispo County and has a brother, Elliott, who is the Ticket Office Manager at Cal Poly, began his tenure as Athletic Director at Seattle Pacific in July 2016. While with the Falcons, he served on the NCAA Division II Implementation Committee, the Division II version of the DI Transformation Committee.
"My family and I are beyond excited to join the Cal Poly Athletics community," said Jackson. "As a Central Coast native, I have long admired the unique way that Mustang Athletics can hold academic and athletic excellence in tension while striving for graduation and championships.
"I cannot wait to get started and begin getting to know the people on this campus, and in this community, that make Cal Poly so special," Stava added. "Ride High!"
Prior to his appointment with the Falcons, Stava worked in various capacities at Azusa Pacific, an NCAA Division II school located in Southern California. After starting in 2005 as an admissions counselor, he became the senior admissions counselor and served as the campus athletics liaison from 2006-08. He was promoted to assistant director of undergraduate admissions in 2008 and assumed the role of executive administrator for athletic student enrollment in January 2012.
Stava joined the Azusa Pacific athletic department on a full-time basis in November 2012, starting as the compliance administrator and eventually becoming the associate athletic director.
Stava also worked with the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association during his time at Azusa Pacific. He served as the director of operations since its inception.
Stava graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies, and received his master's in Christian Education from APU in 2010. His wife, Melissa, worked at Azusa Pacific as the director of student activities. They have two children, daughter Darby and son Tuck.
