MEET RESULTS: MEN | WOMEN
SPRINGFIELD, Oregon .. William Fallini-Haas and Jake Ritter both finished in the top 60 as the Cal Poly men's cross country team placed ninth in a strong field of 14 teams competing in the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Thursday at the Pine Ridge Golf Club.
Fallini-Haas finished 52nd in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 24 minutes, 15.0 seconds while Ritter placed 58th in 24:18.9 to lead the Mustangs.
The meet featured three Pac-12 schools, three from the Mountain West and five Big West schools. Cal Poly finished ahead of the four other Big West members.
Meanwhile, the Cal Poly women's team placed 15th among 17 squads in the 6,000-meter women's race.
Oregon won the men's race with 57 points, led by individual winner Cooper Teare with a time of 23:05.1 and runner-up Aaron Bienenfeld in 23:06.6. Gonzaga was second and Air Force finished third.
Other Mustang scorers were Anthon Guerra, 65th in 24:25.5; Aidan McCarthy, 68th in 24:28.4; and Xian Shively, 84th in 24:38.5.
In the women's race, Cal Poly's top finisher was Schuyler Gooley as she placed 53rd with a time of 21:07.5. Next was Sierra Brill in 62nd place with a time of 21:12.9 and Misty Diaz, 95th in 21:40.7.
Julia Heckey was 98th and Abby Fletcher 133rd to complete Cal Poly's scorers.
The Mustangs will compete in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara on Oct. 16 at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale.
