Cal Poly Volleyball Adds Indiana Transfer Tommi Stockham

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly volleyball team made the final addition to its 2021 roster after announcing that 6-2 outside hitter Tommi Stockham has joined the program as a transfer from Indiana University.

Stockham will have four years of eligibility remaining.

As a freshman for the Hoosiers in 2020, Stockham played in all 18 matches and led the team in kills with 206. She had 12 matches in which she notched double-digit kill numbers, including a season-high 26 against Iowa and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week following the two-match series against the Hawkeyes. She was also second on the team in digs with 146 and had seven double-doubles on the season.

A Las Vegas native, Stockham attended Bishop Gorman High School where she was a two-time Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year. She also helped lead the school to three Nevada State Championships. She ended her high school career with 1,576 kills with a .398 hitting percentage, 806 digs, 215 blocks and 188 aces.

Stockham chose the Mustangs over Wisconsin, USC, Oregon, Tennessee, and University of San Diego. She said she chose Cal Poly because of the "amazing coaching staff and culture and the great location."

She is the third transfer Cal Poly has added since the end of the 2019 season. She joins outside hitter Kristina Jordan from West Virginia and libero/defensive specialist Chen Abramovich from Nebraska as the other transfers.

Cal Poly will welcome 13 newcomers to its 2021 team after not having a season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mustangs open the season August 27 in Tempe, Ariz. against Louisville at the Sun Devil Volleyball Classic.
