33 Mustangs Earn MPSF Swimming & Diving All-Academic Honors

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly swimming and diving program had 33 athletes who were named 2020-21 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming & Diving All-Academic selections.
To earn the honor, the student-athletes must have a 3.00 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore, and have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award was received.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Phil Yoshida, the 33 combined men's and women's honorees are the most of any school in the MPSF this year and the most Cal Poly has had in a season since joining the MPSF prior to the 2014-15 season.
The male athletes who earned the honor are: Chris Hogan (business administration), Lars Worlund (biomedical engineering), Christopher Patrick (economics), Brian Wong (mechanical engineering), Alex Nikolaev (aerospace engineering), Mihail Amiorkov (business administration), Tim Cater (business administration), Cory Leidich (business administration), Calan Brown (kinesiology), Hunter Lane (computer science), Trevor Collet (business administration), Noah Otsuka (computer science), Daniel Macavei (business administration), Tony Casaccia (business administration), Max Powell (physics), and Andre Yarcan (biological sciences).
The female athletes who earned the honor are: Amy Harter (materials engineering), Sascha Keir (industrial engineering), Avani Tantry (biomedical engineering), Natalie Roberts (mechanical engineering), Avery Newman (kinesiology), Erin Kim (kinesiology), Emelia Piccininni (kinesiology), Madeline Mercer (wine and viticulture), Molly Wilson (biological sciences), Jacqueline Samaniego (environmental management and protection), Kaia Anderson (sociology), Stephanie Backlund (kinesiology), Joelle Weltner (business administration), Adelynn Peterson (food science), Alyssa Kjelsberg (liberal studies), Samantha Rankin (business administration), and Alissa Marvin (sociology).
For Amiorkov, Nikolaev, Backlund, Keir, Newman, Piccininni and Roberts, this is the third year each of them have earned the honor. For Cater, Collet, Hogan, Lane, Worlund, Tantry, Kjelsberg, Mercer, Weltner and Wilson, this is the second year they have taken home the honor.
