SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — For a third consecutive year, both Cal Poly cross country squads each earned U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors together, announced Thursday.
This marks the 10th season in a row in which the women's team has collected the distinction, while it's the men's squad's fourth full-roster USTFCCCA honor since 2012.
In order to qualify for the national Scholar-Athlete recognition, teams must have maintained a collective GPA of at least 3.0. Cal Poly's women pooled to calculate a 3.27 team cumulative GPA, while the men's squad combined for an overall 3.14 in 2020.
Combined between men's and women's cross country and track & field, Cal Poly has now had 27 teams and 44 individuals honored with USTFCCCA All-Academic status since 2006-07.
Thursday's National Scholar Team of the Year Awards went to the Northern Arizona men and BYU women. The Mustangs return to the course this upcoming fall, with the XC season slated for its usual start in late-August.
