No. 5 Mustangs to Host Pair of Teams Sunday at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — 383 days ago, the Cal Poly beach volleyball program played its first matches at the new on-campus state-of-the-art Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex. Due to COVID-19, it would turn out to be the only event held there last season. Now, the Cal Poly beach volleyball team will gets it second opportunity to play at home this Sunday when welcoming in Boise State and No. 15 Arizona for a pair of matches.
The No. 5 Mustangs (6-3) will take on the Broncos (2-2) at 10 a.m. and the No. 15 Wildcats (6-0) at 12 p.m. Boise State and Arizona will also play each other at 8 a.m. Due to COVID-19 San Luis Obispo County and State of California protocols, fans attendance is not allowed. However, live updates will be provided on the Cal Poly beach volleyball twitter page, @calpolybeach.
Cal Poly is 2-1 all-time against Boise State and 2-3 all-time against Arizona.
Last year, Cal Poly finished the shortened season with a 7-2 record, including winning both of its matches at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex over No. 6 Pepperdine and No. 9 Loyola Marymount.
This season, Cal Poly is 6-3 so far and is riding a three-match win streak after beating The Master's University, CSU Bakersfield and No. 8 Pepperdine last weekend. The Mustangs have now won two matches this season against ranked opponents. Meanwhile, all three of their losses have come against teams ranked in the top five of the AVCA poll.
Following Sunday, Cal Poly will again play at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex Friday, March 26 and Saturday March 27 when it welcomes in five of the six other Big West Conference teams.
