Five Standouts Sign National Letters of Intent with Cal Poly Women’s Soccer

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Strengthening its attack and midfield and adding goalkeeping depth for future seasons, the Cal Poly women's soccer program recently signed five players to National Letters of Intent.
Set to join Cal Poly for the program's August 2022 preseason training camp are forwards Caylie Button (Ventura, Calif. / LAFC So Cal) and Emily Lieber (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / San Juan SC Spirits); midfielders Brennan Cole (Woodland Hills, Calif. / LA Breakers FC) and Sophia Minnite (Pleasanton, Calif. / Pleasanton Rage) and goalkeeper Riley Wilkerson (San Luis Obispo, Calif. / Central Coast United SC).
Caylie Button (F)
A member of the United States Soccer Development Academy's LAFC So Cal Youth program since seventh grade, Button was named 2021 All-Pacific View League Offensive Player of the Year and to the all-league first team at Buena HS.
Also a volleyball letterwinner and honors student at Buena HS, the 5-9 Button – part of USA Water Ski's junior development program – intends to major in business administration.
Emily Lieber (F)
Competing for San Juan SC Spirits from U-7 to U-19 levels, Lieber has captained her side since 2018 when she helped the club to an Elite Clubs National League National Finals appearance. San Juan SC also captured successive ECNL Northwest Conference titles (2020-21) with Lieber in the lineup.
A three-time All-Sierra Football League first team honoree (2018-21) and two-year captain (2020-22) for Oak Ridge HS, Lieber scored a league leading 15 goals during her 2018-19 freshman season before recording 22 goals to close her 2019-20 sophomore year. She also helped Oak Ridge HS to the 2020 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I title.
An AP Scholar with Distinction selection, Lieber intends to major in aerospace engineering.
Brennan Cole (MF)
A 2020-21 ECNL All-Southwest Conference team honoree with LA Breakers FC, Cole is a former member of Real SoCal, where she participated United States National Team training camps and the Olympic Development Program.
Having helped Chaminade College Prep to a 2020 California Interscholastic Federation Division III state runner-up showing, Cole was a 2021 All-CIF first team and All-Mission League first team honoree. She has 16 career high school goals and 21 assists. Cole intends to major in graphic communications.
Sophia Minnite (MF)
A four-year letterwinner at Foothill HS, two-year varsity captain and an All-East Bay Athletic League first team selection as a junior, Minnite has competed for ECNL side Pleasanton Rage for the past 13 years and currently captains the club's U-18/19 squad.
A four-time All-CIF North Coast Section scholar-athlete honoree, Minnite intends to major in kinesiology
Riley Wilkerson (GK)
A four-year letterwinner for San Luis Obispo HS, Wilkerson has helped the Tigers claim the last three of the program's six successive Mountain League titles. A two-year captain and the Mountain League Goalkeeper of the Year honoree as a sophomore, Wilkerson has assisted San Luis Obispo HS to a 45-9-5 combined record during her first three seasons and the 2019 CIF Central Section Division I title.
Competing at club level for Central Coast United SC, Wilkerson currently captains her age-group side and has helped the squad to a combined 51-13-11 record during her tenure.
A scholar-athlete honoree in each of her first three years, Wilkerson intends to major in agricultural communications.
