SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly head softball coach Jenny Condon, senior Shelby Jeffries, along with men's basketball newcomer Riley Till, will join Thursday evening's Mustang Insider Show, broadcasting on ESPN Radio 1280 AM/101.7 FM starting at 5 p.m. on April 23.
Coach Condon will discuss the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, as well as the NCAA's recent extension of student-athlete eligibility, granting an extra year for those impacted in the spring sports, while looking ahead to 2021.
The same day the initial postponement of the season (later adjusted to cancelling) was announced, Cal Poly had been preparing to host its 2020 home opener, taking on Notre Dame at Janssen Field to start the 14th annual #ShareSLO Classic tournament.
Jeffries, an Experience Industry Management/Rec., Parks & Tourism Admin major from Gold Bar, Wash., was hitting .309 through the first 23 games of the year, to go with 16 RBI, five doubles and three homers.
The Mustangs saw sophomore left-hander Krystyna Allman earn the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week award on Feb 24 following her showing at the Silicon Valley Classic.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Cal Poly announced the addition of Riley Till to its men's basketball squad, by way of Iowa. A grad transfer from the Hawkeyes, Till comes to San Luis Obispo after having made 34 appearances the past two years in the Big Ten.
Chris Sylvester will host the twice-weekly, hour-long show running from 5 to 6 p.m. (recorded from ESPN 1280 Studios in San Luis Obispo), bringing Cal Poly fans interviews, news and entertainment from the Mustang sports world. Thursday's show will also include a trivia segment, with prizes awarded!
Fans are also able to re-listen to the shows after they first air, in a podcast format with the ability to subscribe at THIS LINK, or via GoPoly.com HERE.
Upcoming shows will also include segments with several additional Mustang head coaches, as well as more interviews with student-athletes and alumni, sponsor spotlights, and more.
