
Cal Poly Slips to Seventh Place in Sacramento State Invitational

ELK GROVE, Calif. -- Will Draper notched a 72 in the final round and finished in a tie for 12th place, highlighting Cal Poly's performance in the Sacramento State Invitational men's golf tournament on Tuesday at the Valley Hi Country Club.
Draper finished with an eight-over-par 224 total on the 6,514-yard, par-72 course.
Tanner Podres (pictured at right) added a final-round 70 for a 228 aggregate and 27th-place tie as Cal Poly finished seventh in the 10-team tournament.
Cal State Fullerton claimed the team title with a two-over-par 866 total, followed by CSUN at 889 and UC Irvine at 897.
Individual honors went to Derek Castillo of Cal State Fullerton with a one-under-par 215 total following a final-round 68. Mats Ege of CSUN was second at 216 and Jack Dyer of Cal State Fullerton was third at 217.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Luke Adam with a final-round 73 for a 233 total and 39th place, Austin Liu with a 75 for a 234 total and 47th place, and Joseph Moles with a 75 for a 246 total and 61st place.
Competing as individuals, Peter Faragia carded a 74 for a 236 total and 51st place while Cade Casaga posted a 73 for a 242 total and 59th place.
Draper finished tied for second in par-3 scoring at even par while Podres was tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at five under par.
Cal Poly will host the Cal Poly Match Play Championship on March 23-24 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande.
