
Cal Poly Finishes Second in The Joust at Goose Creek

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. -- Despite strong winds, the Cal Poly men's golf team finished second in The Joust at Goose Creek on Tuesday.
Will Draper (pictured at right) finished in a tie for ninth place while Tanner Podres claimed 13th place as the Mustangs, who carded a four-person 284 and 287 on Monday, finished with a 308 Tuesday for a 39-over-par 879 total, nine shots behind team champion Omaha.
Draper posted a final-round 77 for an eight-over-par 218 total while Podres checked in with a 79 for a 219 total.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Joseph Miles with a 71 for a 221 total and 21st place, Austin Liu with an 82 for a 225 aggregate and a tie for 27th place, and Nicholas Mok with an 81 for a 232 total and a 59th-place tie.
Competing as an individual, Luke Adam finished in a tie for 27th place with a 225 total after a final-round 79.
Individual champion was Witchayapat Sinsrang of Omaha with a 72 for a 208 total, the lone golfer to finish under par. Joshua McCarthy of Pepperdine was four shots back in second place and James Mackie of California Baptist finished third.
Cal Poly competes in the Sacramento State Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove.
