CSU Bakersfield Earns 26-9 Dual Wrestling Meet Win Over Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield won the first five bouts on its way to a 26-9 victory over Cal Poly in a Pac-12 dual wrestling meet Friday night in Mott Athletics Center.
Coach Jon Sioredas' Mustangs won just two bouts – a technical fall by Bernie Truax and a major decision by Tom Lane – falling to 3-7 on the year. The Roadrunners improved to 6-5.
Truax blanked Jacob Thalin in a 15-0 technical fall at 165 pounds.
Now 14-9 for the year, Truax jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first period with a takedown and pair of four-point near falls and added an escape and takedown in the second period and a penalty point and riding time in the final period.
Lane (pictured above in file photo) improved to 16-3 with a 17-4 major decision over Josh Annis at 197 pounds.
Ranked No. 11 this week, Lane snapped a 2-2 tie with an escape in the first period and pulled away with a four-point near fall in the second period and a reversal, four-point near fall, a penalty point, two-point near fall and riding time in the final period.
CSU Bakersfield won eight of the 10 bouts, including two major decisions and six decisions.
Cal Poly conducts its final home dual meet of the season Saturday night, hosting Arizona State at 7 p.m. Seniors Lane and Joshy Cortez will be honored prior to the start of the dual.
