SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Air Force tallied three falls and held Cal Poly to a pair of decisions in a 39-6 Falcons victory in a non-conference dual wrestling meet Sunday afternoon inside Mott Athletics Center.
Randy Meneweather (174 pounds), Jacob Thompson (184) and Kayne Hutchison (285) all recorded falls as Air Force improved to 5-5 on the year. Cal Poly fell to 0-7.
Mustang winners were Tom Lane at 197 pounds and Brawley Lamer at 157.
Lane (pictured below, left) earned a 3-2 decision over Anthony McLaughlin in a matchup of nationally ranked wrestlers. Ranked No. 17, Lane tallied escapes in the first and second periods and McLaughlin, ranked No. 30, was penalized for stalling in the final period, snapping a 2-2 tie.
McLaughlin chose the neutral position to start the third period and neither wrestler scored except for the penalty point.
Lane has won nine of his last 11 bouts and is 17-9 for the season.

Air Force added three major decisions and, at 133 pounds, a decision to pull away from Cal Poly.
Trailing 7-5, Cal Poly's Yoshito Funakoshi nearly scored a reversal in the final period, but John Twomey held on and added riding time for the 8-5 victory.
Funakoshi, Seville Hayes and Isaac Blackburn were honored in a pre-match ceremony on Senior Day.
Cal Poly, which wrestled its first seven duals of the season at home, wraps up the regular season with Pac-12 duals at Stanford next Sunday and at Arizona State on Feb. 22.
Arizona State also will host the Pac-12 Championships on March 9, with the NCAA Division I National Championships slated for March 21-23 inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Penn.
