Midway through the second quarter, the Mustangs used a 7-0 run to pull within 31-20, but Taycee Wedin connected on back-to-back 3s shortly afterward, fueling an 8-0 run to close the half, as the Gaels headed to the break up 41-22.

The largest lead of the day came with 25 seconds to play in the third, with Madeline Holland adding another 3 for a 74-42 margin. Cal Poly (2-6), coming off a 57-56 win over Lamar on Nov. 30, outscored SMC 23-10 in the fourth quarter.
