Feick, Hudson Win Conference Titles at MPSF Championships

MONTEREY PARK, Calif.— Sophomore Amelia Feick and freshman David Hudson each won a championship final event Saturday at the final day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, the first time a Cal Poly swimmer has done so in three years.
Feick won the women's 200-yard breaststroke final with a season-best time of 2:14.05.
Hudson won the men's 200-butterfly with a program record time of 1:45.32, almost a full two seconds faster than the previous record which was set in 2016. Hudson had broken the record in his preliminary round swim with a time of 1:46.07 but broke it in the finals. Hudson's swim is the 51st fastest time in the country this season in the 200-fly.
Two other school records were broken Saturday. Sophomore Nic Clark broke the record in the 100-free during the preliminary contest with a time of 44.54. Current junior Dominic Dalpiaz set the previous record in 2017. Clark and Dalpiaz teamed up with junior Zack Allen and sophomore Paul Rogers to break the school record in the men's 400-free relay with a time of 2:58.33. That broke the record set in 2016. They finished fourth in the finals of that event.
The Mustangs' men's team finished fifth place overall in the championships while the women's team placed sixth.
Cal Poly now sends two of its divers, Riley Saufley on the men's side and Makenzie Kamei on the women's side to the NCAA Zone E Regionals in Flagstaff, Ariz. hosted by Northern Arizona March 5-7.
