
Cal Poly Drops Trio of Matches in Santa Cruz on Saturday

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Cal Poly beach volleyball team dropped a trio of matches on Saturday at Santa Cruz Main Beach, including a 3-2 defeat to No. 13 San Francisco. Against the Dons, Cal Poly nearly pulled off the upset before falling, as sophomore Taylor Nelson and freshman Adlee Van Winden provided a three-set win over USF's Oluoma Okaro and Sara Staengle from the first position (21-16, 19-21, 15-8).
Cal Poly sophomore Casey Carroll and freshman Jacqui Martin also picked up a win against the Dons on Saturday, defeating Emily Reed and Courtney Sabahi from the third spot (21-12, 21-19).
Against Santa Clara, Cal Poly fell 4-1, with the only victory coming from the fifth position and senior Megan Wagner and freshman Clare Holehouse in a two-set decision over SCU's Madison Dutra and Mary Shepherd (22-20, 21-18).
CSUN also beat Cal Poly 4-1 on Saturday, with Cal Poly's only triumph coming from the second positon and junior Anna Gorman and sophomore Raeann Greisen over CSUN's tandem of Katie Sato and Lauren Conati (21-17, 21-19).
