
Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Drops Saturday Match to Cal

TUCSON, Ariz. – Contesting its fourth match in three days, the Cal Poly beach volleyball team dropped its final match at the Arizona Invitational on Saturday, 5-0 to the Cal Golden Bears.
Cal Poly junior Anna Gorman and freshman walk-on Jacqui Martin – fresh off the first pair win of the season for the Mustangs on Friday – won the first set against Cal's Emily Shults and Katie Regalia in the fifth position before falling in three sets, 9-21, 21-11 and 17-15.
Cal Poly No. 1 duo of sophomores Taylor Nelson and Raeann Greisen battled against Sarah Cole and Mia Merino, but lost in straight sets, 21-18 and 22-20.
From the fourth position on Saturday, the Cal Poly sophomore tandem of Bailey Roach and Casey Carroll also nearly pulled off set victories before falling to Cal's Teya Neff and Rachel Wilson, 21-16 and 22-20.
Cal Poly ended the Arizona Invitational by falling in all four sets during the three-day event, with Gorman and Martin picking the lone Mustang victory on Friday against No. 14 Loyola Marymount.
Cal Poly (0-4) continues its third season of competition when visiting Bakersfield for a pair of matches on Friday, March 11. The Mustangs are scheduled to play San Jose State at 1 p.m. and CSU Bakersfield at 3 p.m.
