Cal Poly Sand Volleyball Falls to Pacific in Stockton

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly sand volleyball team began its four-match, three day venture north with a 5-0 loss to Pacific at Raney Courts on Friday afternoon in Stockton. The Mustang freshman duo of Raeann Greisen and Taylor Nelson (both pictured) forced a third set – the sixth time in their seven matches that they have taken a match to three – but were eventually defeated at No. 1 (21-23, 21-15, 9-15).
Cal Poly junior Nicole Kessler and Caihla Petiprin were outlasted in straight sets (17-21, 13-21) by Mia Feiner and Gillian Howard in the second position, while the sophomore pairing of Anna Gorman and Taylor Gruenewald was defeated in two sets (15-21, 13-21) by Pacific's Kimmy Whitson and Alijca Wilk at No. 3, clinching the match for the Tigers.
In the fourth position, Cal Poly sophomore Katie Conroy and junior Hannah Schleis fell in a two-set decision (13-21, 12-21) to Megan Birch and Maycie LaBass the Mustang duo of freshman Casey Carroll and sophomore Shannon Fouts were beaten in straight sets (12-21, 9-21) by Taylor Poncetta and Andie Shelton at No. 5, which provided Pacific a 2-0 advantage through two dual matches.
Cal Poly continues its road trip with two matches on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. against Boise State in Sacramento at the Sacramento State Tournament and 4 p.m. against San Francisco.
