
Cal Poly Settles for Seventh-Place Finish in Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Despite a final-round 71 by Cam Price on Tuesday, Cal Poly slipped two spots and finished seventh following the final round of the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by CSUN at the Wood Ranch Golf Course.
Price (pictured at right) finished fourth with a five-under-par 211 total for 54 holes. The senior carded a 74 and 66 in Monday's two rounds.
Justin De Los Santos, a junior, placed 12th with a final-round 75 and a 213 total. He posted a 70 and 68 Monday.
Other scoring Cal Poly golfers were Jordan Wright with a 75 for a 224 total and 56th place; Jimmy Castles with a 78 for a 225 total and 58th place; and Cole Nygren with a 78 for a 227 total and 67th place.
Competing as an individual, Nick Engelhardt posted a final-round 74 for a 214 total and 17th place.
Fidel Concepcion of Southern Utah claimed the individual title, carding rounds of 71, 69 and 67 for a nine-under-par 207 aggregate. Hayden Shieh (72-65-71—208) of Santa Clara finished one stroke back and Braden Baer (72-68-69--209) of Loyola Marymount was another shot back in third.
Loyola Marymount captured the team championship with an 842 total, five ahead of Pepperdine and 10 in front of Santa Clara as West Coast Conference schools claimed the top three spots.
Cal Poly posted rounds of 288, 283 and 299 for its six-over-par 870 total.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs complete their fall schedule Nov. 2-4 at the Warrior Princeville Classic hosted by Hawai'I at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.
