
De Los Santos Finishes Sixth in Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — Sophomore Justin De Los Santos posted his third consecutive round under par and led the Cal Poly men's golf team to a 15th-place finish in the Bill Cullum Invitational, which finished a two-day run Tuesday at the Wood Ranch Golf Club.
De Los Santos (pictured at right) carded a final-round 71 and, with his 70 and 69 Monday, finished with a six-under-par 210 total on the 6,819-yard, par-72 course.
De Los Santos finished seven strokes behind individual champion Jon Rahm of Arizona State, who recorded rounds of 67, 67 and 69 for a tournament-record 13-under-par 203 total. Rahm broke his previous record of 204 set in winning the title in 2012.
Rico Hoey of Southern California was second with a 204 total while Trojan teammate Jonah Texeira was third at 205.
USC claimed the team title with a 31-under-par 54-hole 833 total, setting a tournament record. The Trojans were 10 under par with a 278 team total Tuesday. Pacific held the old 54-hole mark of 843. Arizona State was second at 844 while Washington State climbed from seventh to third on the final day.
Cal Poly carded a final-round 296 for a 21-over-par 885, finishing ahead of five teams in the 20-school field.
Junior Cam Price placed 35th for Cal Poly with a final-round 74 and a three-over-par 219 total.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Jordan Wright with a 78 for a 230 total and 85th place, Jimmy Castles with a 76 for a 232 total and 90th place, and Mitch Martin with a 75 for a 233 total and 92nd place.
De Los Santos was sixth in par-3 scoring at minus-1 and fourth in par-5 scoring at minus-7 while Price was 11th in par-4 scoring at plus-1. De Los Santos carded a pair of eagles and posted 14 birdies, sixth in the field. Price recorded 38 pars, tied for No. 3.
Cal Poly wraps up its fall schedule Nov. 3-5 at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
