
Cal Poly Finishes Fourth in COG Missouri Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, Missouri – The Cal Poly men's golf team placed three golfers in the top 15 and finished fourth in the 12-team COG Missouri Intercollegiate on Tuesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
Grant Martens (pictured at right) finished seventh, Johnny Castles was 11th and Jordan Wright placed 15th as Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs compiled a four-person final-round five-over-par 293 total for a 54-hole 11-over-par 875 aggregate on the 7,221-yard par-72 course.
Missouri won its own tournament for the third straight year with a 12-under-par 852 total, followed by Austin Peay State at 871 and Washington State at 872.
Martens carded a final-round 73 for an even-par 216 total while Castles finished with a 70 for a 218 total. Wright posted a final-round 70 for a 220 total.
Other Mustang golfers were Scott Patterson with a 223 total and 26th place and Mark Wyllie with a 243 total and 60th place.
Dustin Korte of Austin Peay State claimed the individual title with a final-round 72 for a five-under-par 211 total, one stroke better than three golfers sharing second place – Hunter Krause and Emilio Cuartero, both of Missouri, and Mason Casper of Utah Valley.
Cal Poly will compete in the Big West Conference Championship on April 28-30 at PGA West in La Quinta.
