
CSU Bakersfield Defeats Seattle for Cal Poly Match Play Championship

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield earned a 3.5 to 1.5 victory over Seattle in the title match of the Cal Poly Match Play Championship on Friday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Patrick Bell, Matt Hammons and Dylan Lym all won their matches for the Roadrunners while Chase Goodvin halved his match with Rob Seibly in the matchup of No. 1 golfers.
Weber State defeated Cal Poly's "B" team 3-2 for third place while Fresno State edged the Cal Poly "A" squad 3-2 for the consolation title. Northern Colorado was a 4-1 winner over Utah State for seventh place.
Mark Wyllie and Brandon Shaw won their matches for the Cal Poly "B" team. Grant Martens (pictured above) won his match for the Cal Poly "A" squad and Cole Nygren and Johnny Castles both halved their matches.
Both Cal Poly teams finished with 1-2 records in the two-day, three-round tournament on the 6,803-yard, par-72 course.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs return to action April 8-9 at the COG Mizzou Intercollegiate, to be held at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, MO.
