
Cal Poly Volleyball Falls to Long Beach State in Three Sets

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal Poly volleyball team concluded the regular season with a three set loss on the road to Long Beach State in a Big West Conference match. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 12-17 overall and 6-10 in Big West matches while LBSU improved to 18-11 overall and 11-5 in conference matches.
LBSU won by set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-14.
The shorthanded Mustangs were led by senior Megan McConnell with nine kills on 24 swings (.250), while freshman Taylor Gruenewald tallied eight kills on 21 swings. Freshman Lexi Reddick, in her first start, had six kills. Senior Steffi Sooter led the team with 15 digs.
Cal Poly hit .090 for the match while LBSU hit a blistering .394. The 49ers held a minor edge in digs, 45-44, but dominated at the net, outblocking the Mustangs, 15-2.
