
Mustangs Conclude Regular Season with UC Irvine and Long Beach St.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly volleyball team will conclude the 2013 regular season this week when the team travels to UC Irvine and Long Beach State for matches.
The Mustangs enter the match with UCI 11-16 overall and 5-9 in conference matches. UCI enters the match 14-14 overall and 5-9 in conference matches. First serve for the match is scheduled for 7 pm at the Bren Center on the UC Irvine campus.
Long Beach State enters the week 16-11 overall and 9-5 in conference matches. LBSU will host UC Santa Barbara on Friday before the Mustangs come to town.
Both matches will have live stats available and can be view on Big West TV.
Cal Poly is led by senior Megan McConnell who averages 3.04 kills per set. McConnell is also second on the team with 2.63 digs per set. With senior Chelsea Hardin sidelined, sophomore Hannah Schleis has stepped up with 2.54 kills per set.
Freshman Taylor Gruenewald is fourth on the team with 2.42 kills per set and is hitting a team-high .297.
Freshmen Lexi Reddick and Anna Gorman will be expected to step up in Hardin's absence. Reddick has played in four sets this season with four kills. Gorman has seen most of her action serving, but did see two matches as an outside hitter. Gorman has appeared in 45 sets and tallied 34 kills.
Junior Shannon Garrett has taken over the setting duties with sophomore Maddie Kuber sidelined and has responded with 7.83 assists per set.
Senior Steffi Sooter continues to lead the team in digs with 3.09 per set while fellow senior Kate Walters adds 2.48.
