
Cal Poly Women's Soccer Suffers Loss in Overtime, 1-0.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- The Cal Poly women's soccer team lost its second game of the season in a close game with St. Mary's College, 1-0 in overtime.
Both teams had great scoring opportunities in the first period, but couldn't capitalize. Cal Poly's best chance to score came with a shot into an open goal by freshman Elise Krieghoff, but it was cleared by St. Mary player Anne Whipple.
At the end of regulation, the teams were tied, 0-0. St. Mary's took 15 shots to Cal Poly's seven. Cal Poly goalie Alyssa Giannetti made seven saves.
The game winning goal came in the first overtime. Christina Tognetti was in front of the goal eight yards out and was able to score off the cross from Caroline Beaulne.
Cal Poly's only other loss of the season was against Cal on August 31, 2012.
Cal Poly will be back in action for a home game against Oregon State on Sunday, September 9th at 11 am.
