
Cal Poly Sweeps UC Santa Barbara Lagoon Open

The Cal Poly women's team defeated UC Santa Barbara, 29-33, led by true freshman Laura Hollander winning in a course record 16:42.12.
She outdistanced second place by almost a minute with Daniella Moreno following her up with a time of 17:37.92. Cal Poly sophomore Savannah Pio finished fourth with a time of 17:53.78 with freshman Rachel Blush sixth with a time of 18:11.07.
Redshirt freshman Sara Van Dyke was eighth with a time of 18:16.66 followed by senior Vanessa Hancock in 10th with a time of 18:28.54.
Alex Ciaraglia and Ashley Bergstrom finished 13th and 14th with times of 18:37.24 and 18:39.76. The Mustangs held positions 17th-19th with Hannah Edwards in 17th and a time of 18:50.75, Aaren Cadieux in 18th and a time of 18:52.00 and Ashley Windsor in 19th with a time of 18:52.26.
The men's team placed four runners in the top five positions with junior Chris Frias placing second with a time of 24:56.04. Fellow junior Sean Davidson was third with a time of 25:00.58 while senior David Cardona was fourth in a time of 25:16.76.
Sophomore Mitch Moriarty was sixth in a time of 25:21.69 with Derek Thomas and Blake Ahrold finishing eighth and ninth with times of 25:25.18 and 25:31.80.
Michael Johnson was 15th with a time of 25:48 with Kyle Lynch in 17th with a time of 26:13.27.
The teams will be off until Sept. 21st when they will travel to the UCLA Invitational.
