
Trio of Cal Poly Wrestlers Place in Roadrunner Open

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal Poly placed three wrestlers in the top four at the Roadrunner Open hosted by Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday at the Icardo Center.
Senior Ryan Smith (pictured at right) placed second in the 197-pound weight class, losing by a fall in 6 minutes, 59 seconds, to Celic Bell of Grand Canyon in the championship round. Smith was 2-1 for the tournament.
Sean Dougherty and Kelan Bragg both placed fourth at 184 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Dougherty dropped a 5-3 decision to Kevin Radford, wrestling unattached, in the consolation finals while Bragg fell 7-2 to Lenny Romero of Menlo College.
Cal Poly will conduct its Green vs. Gold intrasquad meet next Sunday at 1 p.m. in Mott Gym.
