
Mustang Swimmers and Divers Claim Team Titles in Cal Poly Shootout

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Lacey Buck and Sami McIntyre were double-event winners and led the Cal Poly women's swimming and diving team to victory on the second and final day of competition Saturday in the Cal Poly Shootout at the Anderson Aquatic Center.
Buck claimed victories in both the 200 freestyle (1:56.30) and 500 freestyle (5:06.41) while McIntyre dominated the diving events with victories off the one-meter (250.55) and three-meter (236.75) boards.
Other Mustang winners were Taylor Riley in the 1,000 freestyle (10:54.61), Katrina Anderson in the 200 individual medley (2:08.06), Amy Morales in the 50 freestyle (24.29), Belen Enguinados in the 100 butterfly (1:00.16), Rachel Cleak in the 100 freestyle (52.56), Chrissy Thomas in the 100 backstroke (1:00.32) and Angie Haven in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.57).
Cal Poly also took both relay events.
Gloria Benefield, Haven, Cleak and Kelsey Engel teamed to win the 400 medley relay in 3:59.02 while Jill Jones, Danielle Wong, Morales and Engel combined for the victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.98).
Cal Poly scored 878 points to win the meet for the second straight day. Pepperdine was second with 383.5 points, followed by Concordia of Irvine (124.5), Azusa Pacific (334) and Fresno Pacific (124.5).
Cal Poly also won the men's meet, scoring 215.5 points. Concordia was second with 176 points and Fresno Pacific claimed third place with 125.5 points.
Mustang event winners on the men's side included Christian Renfro in the 200 freestyle (1:41.77), Joseph Wasko in the 100 backstroke (52.81), Jimmy Deiparine in the 100 breaststroke (59.30) and Toby Reaper in three-meter diving (289.65). Reaper also was second off the one-meter board (253.80).
Cal Poly also won the 400 medley relay as Wasko, Deiparine, Jesse McWhirk and Renfro teamed for a 3:31.59 clocking.
Cal Poly returns to action Dec. 1-3 at the USA Swimming National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
