
Second Half Goal Lifts UCI over Women's Soccer

IRVINE, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's soccer team surrendered a goal in the 71st minute of play that downed the Mustangs 1-0 to UC Irvine in a Big West Conference game on Sunday on the UC Irvine campus.
With the loss Cal Poly falls to 8-6-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play while UC Irvine improves to 9-3-2 and 2-1-1 in conference games.
For the first time this season, UCI dropped out of the NSAA top 25 poll but were still receiving votes in this week's poll.
UCI outshot the Mustangs 16 to 6 with the Anteaters holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. Cal Poly was whistled for 13 fouls compared to nine for UCI.
Brooke Gauvin took the loss for the Mustangs while making three saves while Jennifer Randazzo earned the win with one save.
Tiffany Gummow dominated the Mustang offense with four shots, one on goal while Sara Lancaster and Allie Begin each added a shot.
UCI's lone goal came when Cami Privett received a long cross from Devon Delarosa and she put in into the far corner of the net.
UCI's 16 shots were distributed among 10 different players in the game.
Cal Poly returns to the field when they host UC Riverside for a Big West Conference game on Wednesday at Alex G. Spanos Stadium at 7:00 pm.
