A 2016 graduate of St. Ignatius Prep in San Francisco, Matthew Hazelwood has earned his bachelor's degree in sports management at Cal Poly and served five years as a student manager with the football team before earning a promotion to the coaching staff in 2021. He covers defensive quality control and is the team's academic coordinator for the defense.
Hazelwood was a four-year letter winner in football as a safety and baseball as a second baseman at St. Ignatius Prep. He competed with the Cal Poly Rugby Club as a scrumhalf.
