Bob Gervais has served as Special Assistant to the Director ofAthletics since 2005. His assignments have been wide-ranging such as strategic management and planning, Cal Poly athletics’ academic image, NCAA conference(s) realignment, football scheduling, potential conference memberships, Cal Poly’s relationships with national sports administrators and analysts, and NCAA interactions.
Gervais, a University of Notre Dame graduate, holds degrees in aeronautical and nuclear engineering, and astronautics.
Bob served as a rated officer in the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to Cal Poly he practiced engineering in the private and public sectors in aviation, space exploration and terrestrial renewable energy domains, nationally and internationally. Gervais is a cited author and was editor of two Journals of the Astronautical Sciences.
He remained active in collegiate athletics after university as a recruiter, scout and fundraiser. Bob also has been and continues to be involved with the NCAA, particularly with its 1970’s reformation, as with the Olympics.
Gervais resides in Santa Maria.
