Washington Slides Past Mustang Men’s Soccer Team, 2-0

SEATTLE – A 33rd-minute strike from Washington junior defender Taylor Peay coupled with a 64th-minute penalty from senior midfielder Dylan Tucker-Gangnes sent the Cal Poly men's soccer program to a 2-0 defeat on Sunday evening at Husky Soccer Field.

The Huskies were held without a shot on frame until Peay accepted a throw-in from junior defender Michael Harris and directed a header past Mustang freshman goalkeeper Wade Hamilton.

Washington (2-0-0) managed just one more shot on goal until the 64th, when Mustang sophomore midfielder Nolan Moore was red carded for a foul on Husky senior forward Abdul Aman. Tucker-Gangnes stepped to the penalty spot and converted past Hamilton to finalize Sunday's scoring.

Cal Poly, which racked up five corner kicks to Washington's one attempt and was whistled offside twice, generated just two shots on target with junior forward Mackenzie Pridham getting turned away by Washington junior goalkeeper Spencer Richey in the 29th minute before senior forward Dakota Collins (above) was stopped in the 66th.

Cal Poly (0-2-0) completes its season-opening three-match road trip at San Jose State on Sunday, Sept. 2.
