2020-21 -- Cross Country: Season was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. Outdoor T&F: Competed in four meets, placing 10th in 3,000-meter steeplechase at Big West Conference Championships with personal-best time of 9:34.92 ... placed second in steeplechase at Cal Poly Four-Way Meet (9:46.74) and fifth in same event at Cal Poly Blue-Green Rivalry Meet (9:34.95). Also ran 1,500 in Cal Poly Spring Break Challenge, placing 29th in 4:05.37.
2019-20 -- Cross Country: Helped the Mustangs win the Big West title on Nov. 2 in Riverside, as he posted an 8k championship effort of 26:12.3 around Ag. Ops. Course ... his performance at the Conference Finals contributed to the squad’s tally of 44 points to claim the trophy for a fourth consecutive year ... continued his postseason at the NCAA West Regionals outside Washington State on Nov. 15, upping the mileage to a 10k format (recording a time of 34:48.5) ... began the fall with a showing of 26:49.3 at UC Santa Barbara as the team picked up a 28-29 Blue-Green Rivalry victory on Aug. 31. Track: Spring 2020 season was canceled; however, retains year of eligibility moving forward.
2018-19 -- Track: Specialized in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, ranking No. 2 on the team for the duration of the season as a true freshman ... earned a best time of 9:44.56 at UCSB’s Tri-Meet on March 9, taking fourth place against the duo of conference rivals (also UCR) ... followed up with a second-place home debut of 9:48.59 in the steeple at the 37th annual Cal Poly #ShareSLO Invitational on March 23. Cross Country: While redshirting his first fall on campus, traveled to one meet, the Gaucho Lagoon Open on Sept. 15; competing on an unattached-scoring basis, earned 35th place overall, running the 8k in Isla Vista in 26 minutes, 53.9 seconds.
Prep -- Won the 2017 CIF Central Section Masters title in the 1,600 meters for Buchanan High School in Clovis, posting a PR of 4:15.05 ... went on to record a 4:17.55 (good for 10th place) at the State Championship Prelims ... his top 3,200m performance — 9:23.30 — took fifth place at the 2017 Arcadia Invitational ... as a Bear senior (coached by Brian Weaver), came in 21st place at the CIF Division 1 State Cross Country Championship, posting a 5k of 15:38.4 ... also clocked a second-place 15.29.5 at the 2017 Douglas Rudolf Invitational, prior to winning the Tri-River Athletic Conference championship in 16:07.3 ... academically, earned Honor Roll status six semesters, plus High Honors two more terms while belonging to the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation.
Personal -- Parents are each Sacramento State alumni; cousin Carter Duerksen also competed in cross country and track at Cal Poly from 2013-17 ... also took official visits to Arizona State and Lipscomb; chose the Mustangs because of the “great academics with quality athletics that will teach me to grow,” along with the “beautiful location and great people” ... majoring in civil engineering.
