2014: In first season as a Mustang, made 44 starts, primarily in left field, and played in five other contests as a junior ... a .316 hitter with seven doubles, three triples and trio of home runs (solo shot against Seattle, two-run blast against Northridge and solo shot against Sacramento State in NCAA Regional) en route to All-Big West Conference honorable mention praise ... drove in 16 runs ... drafted in seventh round by Toronto Blue Jays (204th overall pick), but chose to return to Cal Poly ... went 4-for-6 in Seattle game with two runs scored ... 4-for-4 with one RBI against Bakersfield and 3-for-5 with two doubles two weeks later against Roadrunners ... also has three-hit game against San Jose State, UC Riverside and Northridge and two-hit games against UCLA, Wagner, Hawai’i, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge ... 7-for-14 in UC Riverside series ... two errors in 71 chances and stole five bases ... earned team's Dave Oliver Hustle Award ... hit .328 against right-handers, .348 in day games and .353 in games on the road ... played summer ball for San Luis Obispo Blues, hitting .293 with six doubles, three triples and 16 RBI ... stole eight of eight bases.
Community College: Under head coach Jeff Walker at Santa Barbara City College in 2013, Zehner hit a team-leading .358, No. 3 in the Western State Conference’s North Division, with seven doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs and a conference-leading 38 RBI, seventh-best in the state ... struck out just 15 times in 165 plate appearances and earned first-team All-Western State Conference North Division honors for the second straight year after compiling a .455 on-base percentage and .496 slugging percentage ... helped Vaqueros to a 20-17 record, a second-place conference finish and their third straight state regional playoff berth ... also was named to the All-Southern California squad and 2013 Preseason All-American Team ... as a freshman at SBCC, Zehner hit .312 with 12 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 25 RBI ... was a redshirt at SBCC in 2011 ... named Santa Barbara City College's male scholar-athlete of the year with a 3.65 grade-point average ... visited Indiana State, UC Riverside and Loyola Marymount before choosing Cal Poly because it is "a place to excel both academically and in my sport."
