Enters junior season as Cal Poly's starting catcher for the third straight year.
2017 -- Played in all but one of Cal Poly's 56 games as a sophomore with 49 starts behind the plate, two at third base, three in right field and one as designated hitter ... hit .255 with six doubles, two triples (Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara) and a pair of home runs (Cal, UC Riverside) ... drove in 31 runs, one shy of the team lead, en route to second-team All-Big West Conference honors for second straight year ... stole six of nine bases and struck out just 17 times over 242 plate appearances ... first in the Big West and 41sth in the nation in toughest to strike out, fanning out once every 12.5 at-bats ... caught 18 would-be base stealers (second in the Big West) and picked off four other runners (No. 1 in the Big West) ... just seven errors in 478 fielding chances for a .985 fielding percentage ... hit .293 in Big West games ... 14 multiple-hit games, including three-hit contests against Santa Clara, CSUN and UC Santa Barbara ... six multiple-RBI games, including four against Loyola Marymount ... seven-game hitting streak in middle of season and also had a six-game streak ... 73.7 percent success scoring runner from third base and less than two outs ... led team with 12 two-out RBI ... named winner of John Orton Golden Glove award ... played summer ball for USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team ... hit .188, threw out three of five base stealers and played in 14 of Team USA's 20 games.
2016 -- Meyer was in the starting lineup as a true freshman on Opening Day against Pacific and finished with 50 starts, 48 behind the plate and two in right field ... a .301 hitter with seven doubles, one triple and one home run en route to second-team All-Big West Conference honors ... also was named Big West Conference Freshman Field Player of the Year ... earned team's John Orton Gold Glove and Scott Kidd Rookie of the Year awards ... triple was against UC Davis on May 27 while his home run was a solo shot versus UC Irvine on May 15 ... knocked in 21 runs... 19-for-43 (.442) in final 11 games of season, bumping average up 47 points ... 10 two-hit games and went 3-for-5 against UC Irvine on May 13 and 4-for-5 against UC Davis on May 28 ... eight-game hitting streak snapped by Long Beach State on April 30 ... threw out 22 base runners trying to steal and picked off 10 other runners, best in the conference ... struck out just 13 times over 204 plate appearances ... averaging one strikeout every 13.3 at-bats, was first in the Big West in toughest to strike out and No. 53 in NCAA Division I ... 6-for-14 in UC Irvine series and 6-for-11 against UC Irvine ... just eight errors in 439 fielding chances ... hit .337 in Big West games ... hit .375 against left-handed pitching during the season and .349 at home ... did not play summer ball.
High School — A 2015 graduate of Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. … as a senior under head coach Dave Bacani hit .293 with five doubles, a home run and eight RBI … Eagles were 17-14 overall in 2015, finishing fourth in the Trinity League … a three-time first-team All-Trinity League honoree … participated in the Orange County All-Star Game … as a junior hit .330 with five doubles and a triple, knocking in 13 runs and helping Eagles to a 20-10-1 overall mark and second-place finish in the Trinity League … Santa Margarita went on to capture the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 championship at Dodger Stadium … earned first-team All-Trinity League and third-team All-Orange County honors … lettered in football in 2012 … involved with Special Olympics and Ability Awareness for special needs children … also hit .211 as a sophomore and .370 in 21 games as a freshman … played on the Brewers' Area Code team … also recruited by Grand Canyon, Meyer chose Cal Poly because he "loved the campus, great education, great coaches to help me get to the next level, wanted to play for a team that could make it to Omaha and loved the downtown atmosphere" … played summer ball for Victoria HarbourCats, hitting .227 with 15 hits, one double and five RBI.
