2025 — Cal Poly’s Saturday starter in the weekend pitching rotation … 5-5 win-loss record and 6.02 ERA in second season with the Mustangs … team-leading 83 strikeouts over 83 2/3 innings while issuing just 29 walks … led Big West in strikeouts looking (21) and starts (17) … was within three outs of a no-hitter at UC Davis on March 29 when he gave up a ninth-inning leadoff single … Eric Kvidahl relieved Volmerding and retired all three batters he faced to complete the one-hit shutout … Volmerding struck out nine and walked one … four weeks later, fanned a career-high 11 against UC Irvine … allowed one run and five hits in six innings for win at Long Beach State on March 15, one run and three hits over five innings in another win over UC San Diego on April 5 and one run and six hits over six innings for yet another victory at Cal State Bakersfield on May 3 … in final four starts of season, however, went 0-2 with two no-decisions and 9.90 ERA … did not play summer ball.

2024 — Made three starts and 12 relief appearances on the mound in first season at Cal Poly … 2-1 record and 3.82 ERA for the southpaw with 33 strikeouts over 35 1/3 innings … opposing batters hit .261 … earned one save against UC Santa Barbara on March 24, allowing one run and two hits over 2 2/3 innings with season-high six strikeouts … also struck out five versus Long Beach State on May 24 … earned victories against UC Irvine (five scoreless innings in relief, four hits, two strikeouts, 99 pitches) on May 5 and UC San Diego (one run, two hits, three strikeouts in two innings) on May 19 … in addition to the five-inning stint at UC Irvine, Volmerding also pitched 4 2/3 innings against Long Beach State and four scoreless frames versus Ohio State … did not play summer ball.

High School — As a senior under head coach Sam Bruno at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, Volmerding had an ERA of 2.15 and a 9-4 win-loss record, helping the Pumas to a 16-10 overall record and fourth-place North Bay Oak Division finish … Maria Carrillo reached title game of CIF-North Coast Section Division II playoffs … Volmerding struck out 128 batters over 78 innings with just 31 walks and compiled a .192 opponents’ batting average, earning first-team All-North Bay Oak Division honors … earned pair of complete-game shutouts and, in 13 starts, struck out 10 or more batters eight times, including 15 against Ukiah … In 12 appearances on the mound as a junior in 2022, Volmerding compiled a 5-5 record and 1.70 ERA with 92 strikeouts over 70 innings … opposing batters hit just .146 against the southpaw as he earned first-team All-North Bay League Oak Division honors … Pumas posted an 11-15-1 record and fourth-place North Bay League Oak Division finish, qualifying for the CIF-North Coast Section Division II playoffs … Volmerding allowed one hit over seven innings with nine strikeouts in an eight-inning 1-0 loss to Casa Grande, struck out 14 over six innings in a 4-0 victory over Ukiah, fanned 11 in a five-hit 4-2 triumph over Montgomery and also shut out Windsor 11-0 with a three-hitter and four strikeouts … as a sophomore in 2021, Volmerding was 0-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 27 strikeouts over 16 innings (eight appearances) … has played for the Santa Rosa Crushers travel team … chose to be a Mustang because "the coaching staff is extremely developmental and has a long history of winning and sending guys to the pros. It is also a great school with a great degree.”
