High School -- Under head coach Robert Martinez at River City High School in West Sacramento, Calif., Rodriguez hit .436 in three varsity seasons (the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic) with 26 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 93 RBIs over 74 games with 11 multiple-hit contests ... also was 13-4 with a 1.68 ERA on the mound with 189 strikeouts over 112 2/3 innings ... holds all pitching records at River City High ... struck out just 27 times in 296 career plate appearances ... as a senior hit .435 with four home runs and 37 RBIs at the plate and compiled a 4-2 record and 1.42 ERA with 104 strikeouts over 59 1/3 innings on the mound, leading the Raiders to a 21-7 overall mark, second place in the Metropolitan Conference and a berth in the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 playoffs ... struck out 10 or more batters six times in 2022 ... earned all-league honors for the fourth year in a row and was voted MVP in a fan vote by the Sacramento Bee ... also was a Sacramento County All-Star as a junior and senior ... in junior season posted a 9-2 record and 1.75 ERA, striking out 75 batters over 48 innings, and also hit .532 with 14 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 43 RBIs in 23 games ... produced 14 multiple-hit games, struck out just six times in 92 plate appearances and stole 11 of 13 bases en route to All-Metro and all-league honors ... career-high 14 strikeouts in five scoreless innings versus Monterey Trail and 13 more in six innings against Antelope ...
