- Student Manager
Sofia Alcazar, a third-year applied mathematics major with a minor in statistics, is in her first season as a student manager for the Cal Poly baseball team.
A 2017 graduate of Temecula Valley High School, Sofia played varsity soccer for three years, earning first-team all-league honors as a senior in addition to a spot on the All-CIF-Southern Section team. She also was named defensive MVP of her team.
Sofia played club soccer for nine years and helped coach younger girls soccer teams. Her hobbies include exercising, traveling and watching sports.
Alcazar's parents are Adrian and Martha Alczar and she has one sister, Lilia.
"I decided to be a student manager because I want to do whatever I can to help the team succeed, primarily via analytics," said Alcazar. "I will help film and record data on games, then organize it for coaches to analyze players. Working for an MLB team doing research and development is my ultimate dream and I hope this helps me get one step closer to that goal!"
