Kaylaa Kawasaki is in her second season as a student manager with the Cal Poly baseball team.
A second-year business administration major with plans to concentrate in quantitative analysis and minor in statistics, Kawasaki's goal is to work in business operations for a Major League Baseball team.
Kawasaki is a 2017 graduate of Santa Catalina High School in Monterey, Calif. She was a four-year varsity tennis letter winner, earning first-team All-Mission Trail Athletic League honors in 2015 and 2016. A team captain, Kawasaki led the Cougars to an MTAL championship as a senior in 2016.
Also at Santa Catalina, Kawasaki was head intern of the athletic department, assisting the director of athletics, managing maxpreps.com accounts and producing a bi-weekly podcast. She also headed production of the sports section of the school's yearbook from 2015-17.
Kawasaki has served as an intern with PocketRadar Inc. as well as for the California Collegiate League's Healdsburg Prune Packers the last three summers.
Kawasaki's father, Mike, attended Arizona State and sister Kristi, a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, is a first-year student at Cal Poly.
