- Title:
- Student Manager
Jeremy Whorton is in his first season as a student manager with the Cal Poly baseball program. He is a fourth-year software engineering major with minors in data science and statistics.
Whorton is a graduate of Green Mountain High school in Lakewood, Colo., where he played baseball and basketball. He was a catcher, first baseman and designated hitter on the Green Mountain baseball team which claimed a pair of Colorado 4A state championships.
Whorton participates in Tutoring/Middle School Introduction to Computer Science and Greek Life. His hobbies include pick-up sports (basketball and soccer) and intramural sports (football, softball, basketball and soccer).
Jeremy's parents are Steve Clark and Mandy Whorton and he has a step dad, Eric Barndt. Jeremy has one sister, Abby Whorton, a second-year Cal Poly student.
He chose to be a student manager because "my career goal is to head an analytics department of a professional team and there is no better place to get experience than here. I also love the game and want to be around a team again. My duties consist of collecting and analyzing data and video from our various new tools. Additionally, I am working on generating automated scouting reports and managing our databases, giving only the most crucial information to coaches in a quick and easy way."
