Begins 2016 season as a middle reliever in the bullpen as a sophomore.
2015 -- Started seven games on the mound as a true freshman, all in the first seven weeks of the season before he was moved to the bullpen ... compiled 3-3 record and 5.01 ERA in 10 total appearances, striking out 18 batters in 32 1/3 innings ... opponents hit .241 against him ... in first collegiate start Feb. 17 at Fresno State, pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits with one walk and four strikeouts, for the victory ... allowed two runs and three hits with season-high eight strikeouts for second win Feb. 24 against CSU Bakersfield and two runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings for third win against Sacramento State on March 12 ... 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in night games and 2-2 with 3.97 ERA in home contests ... played summer ball for Yakima Valley Pippins, posting 2-5 record and 3.82 ERA and striking out 25 batters in 44 2/3 innings over eight appearances.
High School -- Under head coach Geoff Ranney at Claremont High School, Bernstein was 5-4 with a 2.75 ERA as a junior and 1-3 with a 4.83 ERA as a senior … three total saves and a trio of complete games … struck out 60 batters in 81 career innings … also played first base for the Wolfpack.
